        The role of hydraulic directional valves, also known as pre-actuators, is to control the direction of fluid in a system. In essence, a spool valve has at least two positions. Depending on the position, chosen manually, mechanically, electrically or hydraulically, the directional valve directs the force of the hydraulic fluid towards the components responsible for the desired action. This direction is achieved by operating a spool, which can be moved sideways to the left or right to connect the ports.
