The hydraulic fluid reservoir is essential for the correct operation of the installation. It contains the hydraulic lubricant. It helps to cool the lubricant at the end of the cycle, compensates for fluid level variations in the circuit and often accommodates the pump unit on its walls.
Don't be surprised by the volume of a hydraulic reservoir. The volume must be large enough to ensure optimum decantation and de-aeration of the fluid. The total volume depends on the flow rate of the pump(s) for one minute of use and the type of lubricant. The capacity for mineral oil will be 3 to 4 times the flow rate of the pumps and 5 to 8 times for a water-glycol mixture
